Due to its inherent properties, electromagnetic forming is limited to components with high electrical conductivity and closed cross-sections. To still leverage the advantages of the high-speed process for the entire range of materials, it is advisable to use electromagnetically accelerated tools. In this approach, the tool is attached to an acceleration unit with good electrical conductivity and accelerated via this additional element. The tools used in this case can be forming tools as well as punching or joining tools. Simultaneously accelerating different tools is generally unproblematic with this variant.
