Both the miniaturization of components and the integration density of functional elements in complex precision systems are paving the way for innovative products. Microcomponents such as customized implants for medical technology or microstructured assemblies such as impression tools for point-of-care diagnostics or bipolar plates are examples of applications. These are required in very different quantities – from mass-produced products to small series. This requires technological expertise in complex process chains in conjunction with high-precision machine and plant technology.
