The battery system is the central component of an electric car. In the CoolBat project, partners from research and industry are demonstrating how innovative design principles, materials and production processes can help to manufacture housings for these battery systems in a climate-friendly way and at the same time integrate better performance characteristics. The battery housings will be lighter and save up to 15 percent carbon dioxide (CO2) - with higher battery system performance, faster charging and greater range. In addition, the production of the battery housings will be significantly more efficient compared to previous processes.
