Sensorized tillage tools for autonomous agriculture

The future of autonomous agriculture requires the perception and recording of the situation in the field and the self-perception of the operating equipment. With a focus on stillage tools and non-image-based systems, Fraunhofer IWU is developing robust sensor technology that is suitable for recording loads and wear conditions, for example on coulters and disc harrows.

An interactive demonstrator with sensor-equipped disc harrows will be presented at AGRITECHNICA 2025. The measuring sleeves separately record the loads during tillage in the longitudinal and transverse directions and display them live. In combination with data from rotary sensors, conclusions can be drawn about tillage process and the wear status of the harrow discs.
